Andy Ward is an urban designer and architect and a director of NEW masterplanning. Andy is a regular member of the South West and South East Design Review Panels and has contributed to government good practice guidance. Before setting up NEW, Andy led the urban design team at Terence O’Rourke, prior to which he was design team leader at Birmingham City Council for almost ten years.
Andy has been the lead designer on major regeneration projects such as Heart of Slough, Gloucester URC, Taunton town centre and Bath Riverside. At Birmingham City Council he had responsibility for transformational projects such as Brindleyplace and the Bull Ring redevelopment. Recent award-winning mixed-use communities include Filwood Park in south Bristol, Tadpole Garden Village urban extension to Swindon and Locking Parklands new community in Weston-super-Mare. He is currently leading designs for an urban extension to Thatcham, for a new market town in South Oxfordshire and for Buckover Garden Village in South Gloucestershire.
