Julia has been “prescribing” music for over 25 years (hence gaining the nickname “Dr Rock”). She qualified as a Sport Psychologist in the 1990s working with GB athletes using music to control anxiety and influence mood and behaviour. In 2003 she launched Found in Music as an advisory and experiential agency using the same neuroscience principles to help clients use music to enhance customer experience and engagement. In 2019 Found in Music announced their new Employee Experience and Wellbeing programme. Julia has advised the UN and cities around the world regarding music strategy and policy in relation to health and wellbeing. Her MSc, MBA and PhD research examined the effects of music on human behaviour. Found in Music clients include Mayor of London, NHS, Network Rail, Quintain, British Land, Apple, Gibson Guitars. Found in Music has a roster of over 350 musicians and programmes 7,000 hours of live street performance across London each year. Julia published her music and wellbeing book - The Music Diet - in May 2019 and has launched a new ‘Music At Work Week’ in the UK (running 25 November to 1 Dec 2019) to promote the benefits of music in workplace wellbeing. She sits on the Mayor of London’s London Music Board, the All Party Parliamentary Group for Artificial Intelligence and is the founder and Secretariat of the Music in Society inquiry at the House of Lords.
