Dr Lucy Gunn is a Senior Research Fellow at the Centre of Urban Research at RMIT University with 20 years of experience in research and teaching in the fields of econometrics and urban research. Her key interest is in understanding the link between the urban environment and the health and wellbeing of people. Her research has been used by policy makers and planners for developing planning policies with recent projects spanning topics including valuing walkability, health-economic evaluation of brownfield and greenfield sites, transit-oriented development in metropolitan Melbourne, and creating liveable cities using indicators of liveability. Her team won State and National Planning Institute of Australia National awards for Research Excellence in 2021 and 2022 for their freely accessible Transport Health Assessment Tool for Melbourne available through the Australian Urban Observatory (auo.org.au) which measures the health impacts of walking and cycling when replacing short car trips.
